The story of the tennis bracelet

Tennis bracelets derive their name from the women’s final of the 1978 US Open. Chris Evert, one of the sport’s most legendary players, lost her George Bedewi-designed diamond bracelet when the closure snapped mid-game.

Evert promptly asked to suspend the match until it was found, before going on to win her 4th title. As of that day, the style has been referred to as a tennis bracelet – and is still worn by a number of tennis stars including Serena Williams.
